Hong Kong Food Paradise Adventure
Little Piggy takes you to HK for a smorgasbord of yummie food
HK Power Breakkie (at any dodgey looking cafe)
For $4-$6 you get: instant noodle with sausage & egg plus drink (pictured) or two eggs, sausage/ham/spam, toast plus drink or egg, spam/ham/sausage, macaroni plus drinks. Not the most nutritious food, but hey- it’s cheap.
This is honeymoon dessert- supposedly famous dessert place… nice decor and everything, but the service is soooo slooowwww considering I am the ONLY customer there (it IS a weird hour of the morning to be having dessert but I am blaming jet lag!) it took like 15 mins to make dessert. I can understand if it’s bloody souffle but this is just stuff prepared beforehand!
Anyway the purple rice & Mango in coconut milk was good but the presentation was not much like the pic on the menu. I’ve also asked for less coconut milk but it was still swimming with coconut milk so I had to try to avoid it… yikes
Now THIS is a yummie place- I was walking around when I came across this place- it has a lot of newspaper cutting stuck outside, which should mean this is a yummie place someone has introduced (although I suppose they might have a bad review and they just stuck the article on, hoping no one would read it and just assume that it’s yummie
). But really, it’s yummie- in an old style kitchen, these middle aged ladies are making loads & loads of dumplings. There are so many different types of dumplings, but I felt like Shanghai Wonton- so Shanghai vegetable & meat wonton it is.
It came in this plain bowl filled with Wontons. Omg I am in heaven with the first bite- there’s not a lot of MSG which is always a bonus in HK. There’s a good 50/50 split of vegies and meat- which is something that’s quite rare (in Australia anyway). It was so yummie and juicy that I really really wanna go back for more. But it’s v. filling and I need to find more yummie stuff to show you, so I only ate one bowl
Oh and of course, I’ve gotta rave about their service- they made me feel so so welcome, they really treat me like a house guest. They know a lot of their customer’s names and the service was prompt.
